Pediatric Hearing Center
The Pediatric Hearing Center is a comprehensive diagnostic and treatment center serving children of all ages with known or suspected hearing loss. The program brings together one of the nation’s finest teams, which includes professionals trained in audiology, speech pathology, deaf education, early childhood development and aural rehabilitation.
Services include:
- Diagnosing hearing loss in infants
- Identifying and monitoring hearing loss
- Providing education to the family on hearing loss and its consequences
- Assessing amplification needs, including hearing aids, FM system and/or cochlear implant fitting and follow-up
- Providing diagnostic therapy to aid in verification of the benefit provided by amplification
- Evaluating speech, language and auditory skills
- Providing speech, language and auditory therapy to maximize the use of hearing aids or cochlear implants
- Consulting with educators in local school programs
- Observing the child in his/her school program and providing recommendations
- Developing and providing materials for reinforcement of therapy goals at home
