The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board has approved Carle Foundation Hospital’s application to expand its Emergency Department (ED). The project will add 14,000 square feet and 17 additional acute care beds to meet major demand.

Carle did not use the back pain injections manufactured at New England Compounding Center (NECC), that recently have been linked to meningitis cases in the US. However, Carle did purchase a separate product (Avastin) from NECC that was used to treat Wet Macular Degeneration in some patients.
Carle to offer free screenings for those at highest risk of peripheral artery disease

One in twenty Americans over 50 and as many as one in five over 60 suffer with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). Carle will host free screenings for those most at risk for the disease on Saturday, November 3, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Carle community flu clinics kick off October 3

Carle community flu clinics begin on October 3 at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church in Urbana. As the largest provider of flu vaccine in the Champaign-Urbana area, 38,000 doses will be available at nine locations, as well as at all Carle primary care offices.
