Carle is recognized as among the Best Hospitals in Illinois ranked sixth overall in the
2012-2013 rankings. Carle also received national recognition as the 35th Best Hospital in the United States for Ear, Nose & Throat, one of the
“Most Connected” hospitals (top 3 percent) in the nation, and as “high-performing” in 11 specialties including:

Carle is the only hospital outside of the Chicago area in Illinois to rank amongst the top 10 hospitals statewide as well as the only downstate hospital to receive distinction for a nationally ranked medical specialty.

This year
U.S. News & World Report expanded their ranking methodology across entire states, rather than regions alone, to provide clearer distinction to patients. The new state rankings create a single overarching list of each state’s Best Hospitals, and were determined by the number of specialties in which the hospital is nationally ranked and by how many in which it is high performing. Death rates, patient safety and hospital/physician reputation were factors considered for the 2012-2013 rankings.
