Criteria for Bariatric Surgery

Number of pounds over ideal body weight (approx. 100 pounds overweight for men, 80 pounds for women)
- BMI of 40 or more
- BMI of 35-39 with severe co-morbidities
- Previous unsuccessful attempts at weight loss, including medically supervised diets, etc.
- Age 18-60
- Willingness to make lifestyle changes and eating habits
- Commitment to behavior modification, support groups, long-term follow up
