Pediatric Hospitalists
Caring For and About Your Child
The role of our pediatric hospitalists at Carle Foundation Hospital, we have a team of pediatric hospitalists and intensivists who provide the best possible care while your child is in the hospital, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Pediatric hospitalists are doctors who specialize in taking care of children while they are in the hospital. All of our pediatric doctors are board-certified in pediatrics.
Pediatric hospitalists are always on hand to respond to your child’s needs and answer questions from primary care physicians or family members.
- Nationwide studies show that hospitalists and intensivists provide better, more efficient hospital care and return patients home sooner.
- Pediatricians and major teaching hospitals agree these specialists provide the highest quality of care to hospitalized children.
How our team works together
- Your primary care physician will discuss your child’s care and send records to the pediatric hospitalists at the hospital. Together, we will discuss your child’s progress and agree on the best care plan.
- During your child’s hospital stay, the pediatric hospitalist team assumes responsibility for his or her care. The team is always available for patient evaluations, family meetings, and communication with other members of the child’s medical team.
- When your child is discharged, your pediatric hospitalist will discuss your child’s care with your primary care physician, sending a discharge summary so he or she will know everything that happened while your child was in the hospital and what follow-up care he or she needs.
