Know the 5 Signs of Stroke
Each year about 700,000 people suffer a stroke in the United States, and nearly one in five stroke victims dies. At Carle Foundation Hospital, we’re focused on reducing those numbers, and we want to make sure you’re prepared should you or someone you know experience any of the following signs of stroke:
- Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
- Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
- Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
- Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
- Sudden, severe headache with no known cause
Call 911 immediately if you are someone you know experiences any of these symptoms – acting quickly could diminish the effects of a stroke.
