Making an Appointment
How to Get Started
Asking your primary care physician about the Carle Wound Healing and Limb Preservation Center is a good place to start. Or, you can contact us at (217) 326-4325 (in Urbana) or (217) 444-5835 (in Danville) and we can work directly with your physician to get you a referral.
What About Insurance?
Medicare, Medicaid, HMO's or private insurers may reimburse the fees for many of our services. You should contact your provider to determine your coverage prior to making your first appointment.
What Should I Expect During Treatment?
Our team begins by identifying the underlying cause of your wound and assessing your general health. This helps determine the best course of treatment.
The initial comprehensive review lasts approximately two hours and will be scheduled in our Urbana or Danville office for either first thing in the morning or early afternoon.
You will be assigned your own physician and nurse case manager who will evaluate your wound care and lifestyle needs to help develop your treatment plan. You may receive a referral to other areas, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutrition support, diabetes education and other appropriate services.
Your progress will be closely monitored and treatment may require regular follow-up visits. Most patients are seen once a week for eight to twelve weeks, or until healed. Each visit is approximately 30 minutes long and can be scheduled during normal operating hours. Specialized treatments will be selected as needed and your primary care physician will be kept informed of your healing progress.
Much of the success of wound healing is in your hands. You must follow the prescribed course of therapy carefully. We will do everything possible to show you correct techniques and answer your questions. Ultimately, it is your active participation that will help ensure the best chance at healing your wound and reclaiming your life.
