The Carle Foundation completes expansion at Coles Business Park in Charleston
August 8, 2008
The Carle Foundation today announced that it has completed expansion into its medical services facility at 5731 Park Drive in the Coles Business Park in Charleston. The building is now fully occupied, and consists of the Carle Sleep Disorders Center, Carle Home Health, Carle Therapy Services and Carle Sports Medicine.
“This investment in our Park Drive facility further demonstrates our long-standing commitment to serve Coles County residents,” said David Cook, vice president of Physician Practice Management for The Carle Foundation. “Carle is bringing new and improved services to the area, while recruiting new specialists and physicians. We are constantly working to provide the highest quality healthcare services to the people of Coles County and the surrounding area.”
The Carle Sleep Disorders Center, which is expected to open in mid-August, is under the umbrella of services provided by Carle Foundation Physicians—Mattoon/Charleston. This sleep lab has two sleep rooms, and is backed by the expertise at the Carle Regional Sleep Disorders Center at Carle Foundation Hospital, which is certified by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. It has skilled, board certified physician specialists – led by Donald A. Greeley, MD, and Daniel L. Picchietti, MD – highly trained technical staff and state-of-the-art equipment.
Patients who participate in a sleep study at the Charleston sleep center have access to telemedicine services available at Carle Foundation Physicians—Mattoon/Charleston. These services allow patients and their physicians to consult with physician specialists at Carle in Urbana via audio/video communication before and after a sleep study has taken place, a convenient alternative to driving to Urbana.
Carle Home Health moved into the Park Drive building following the purchase of the home care and hospice components of Dynamic Homecare, Inc. of Charleston in early 2007. Carle Home Health, which consists of Carle Hospice and Carle Home Care, was previously located at Carle Foundation Physicians—Mattoon/Charleston on Lerna Road.
Carle Home Health has been offering services in the Coles County area since the 1980s. It employs eight nurses, two therapists, a chaplain and a variety of other professionals living in and around the area servicing their neighbors. Owned by Carle Foundation Hospital, Carle Home Health was established in 1983 and also has offices in Champaign and Danville. Their service area encompasses 19 counties in east central Illinois.
Carle Therapy Services of Mattoon/Charleston moved into the Park Drive location in early June 2008, and has nine full-time and part-time employees. Carle Therapy Services, which had been located on Lerna Road at Carle Foundation Physicians—Mattoon/Charleston, occupies 5,000 square feet of space and offers the following core services:

A community open house will be held at the Charleston facility on Thursday, August 14, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will feature refreshments, door prizes and self-guided tours.
The expansion into the Park Drive facility is the first phase of The Carle Foundation’s plan to offer new and improved healthcare services in the Charleston/Mattoon area. A second expansion project is currently underway at Carle Foundation Physicians—Mattoon/Charleston, 200 Lerna Road South, in Mattoon.
