Local businesses encouraged to GO PINK in celebration of Mills Breast Cancer Institute opening

May 1, 2008

On Friday, May 16, community businesses will GO PINK to kick off a weekend of festivities in celebration of the anticipated opening of Mills Breast Cancer Institute. A community open house will be held Sunday, May 18.

Local and area businesses are encouraged to have employees wear pink in support of this amazing project and breast cancer awareness in general. Some businesses are taking GO PINK one step further by allowing employees the privilege of wearing jeans, in addition to pink, by making a $5 donation. The dollars raised will benefit patient care, education and research at Mills Breast Cancer Institute right here in our own community.

"You don't have to be employed by a participating business to GO PINK," says Jennifer Greene, corporate and foundations relations manager for The Carle Development Foundation. "It is a fun community involvement concept. Everyone should consider wearing pink on May 16 and showing their support of Mills Breast Cancer Institute."

GO PINK is an initiative of The Carle Development Foundation. To learn more about the project or to get your business involved, please contact Jennifer Greene by email or at (217) 326-1545.

Attend the community open house May 18. The public is invited to a community open house for the Mills Breast Cancer Institute and Carle Cancer Center on Sunday, May 18, 2-4:30 p.m. The event will feature guided and self-directed tours, music and refreshments. The institute is located on the Carle medical campus on West University Avenue in Urbana. For more information, call (217) 383-3016.
