Carle Foundation Hospital Manager Elected to Board of National Education Body
January 2, 2009
Barbara Huffman, M.Ed., manager of Continuing Medical Education (CME) at Carle Foundation Hospital since 1993, has been elected to the National Board of Directors for the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education. She is one of only two hospital-based professionals serving on the board.
The Alliance is the organization that represents accredited CME providers across the nation, striving to improve health care outcomes by offering professional development opportunities for physicians and advocating for continued medical education.
Although hospital-based professionals outnumber other CME providers, such as those in specialty societies and university-based programs, they are historically underrepresented in policy- and decision-making areas. Ms. Huffman’s election to the Alliance for CME board makes her well positioned to advocate for hospital-based CME programs like the one at Carle Foundation Hospital.
