Carle Vice President Receives ACHE Regent's Award

Pamela Bigler, RN, Vice President, Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL, has received the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent's Award.

The award was bestowed on Ms. Bigler by John Snyder, ACHE's Regent for Southern Illinois and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Carle Foundation Hospital. The Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent's Award recognizes ACHE affiliates who are experienced in the field and have significantly contributed toward the advancement of healthcare management excellence and the achievement of the goals of ACHE.

Among her many leadership accomplishments at Carle Foundation Hospital are the achievement of Magnet® status, the creation of a highly successful capacity management system, and the development of a Nurse Extern program. In his acknowledgement of Ms. Bigler's accomplishments, Mr. Snyder called her "one of the best CNO's in the country."

Ms. Bigler is a member in the American College of Healthcare Executives, demonstrating a commitment to professional excellence. As such, she is board certified in nursing administration. She also holds a Master of Science Nursing from Governors State University.

She has served as vice president of Patient Care Services/CNO at Carle Foundation Hospital since 2005, having joined Carle in 1998 as the director of Critical Care Nursing.
