Your Benefits Working For You

From health and dental to life insurance and retirement, The Carle Foundation offers you benefits that meet your needs as well as those of your family. We know how important benefits are to your total compensation plan and your career at Carle.

Outlined below is an overview of available benefits at The Carle Foundation.  This list does not cover all benefits and individual benefit programs may vary depending on employment status.

Benefits

Our benefits package provides peace of mind for you and your eligible family members. Coverage begins the first day of the pay period following 30 days of employment for benefit eligible employees.

Health

Our PPO health plan provides comprehensive coverage, including a tiered prescription plan along with In-Network and Out-of-Network coverage levels.  The Carle Foundation pays for up to 80% of premiums for full-time employees.

Dental

Our dental plan allows you to see any dental provider for services and charges are covered at 100%, 80% or 50% of the usual and customary charges depending on the type of service.

Vision

Our vision plan offers coverage for a variety of vision care needs.  Benefits cover eye exams, prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses and more.

Life Insurance

As a part of your overall benefits, Carle provides a minimum amount of life insurance coverage. You may also choose to purchase additional coverage for yourself, your spouse, your domestic partner and eligible dependent children.

Time Off

Paid Leave

Carle offers eligible employees paid time off with 100% of your base pay by using your paid leave hours. Paid Leave accrues immediately upon your hire date and is available after only three months.

Severe Illness

Eligible employees who are disabled and unable to work may use severe illness after 6 months of employment receiving 100% of your base pay.

Short Term Disability/Long Term Disability

For longer periods of disability, Carle offers Short Term and Long Term Disability to eligible employees after 6 months of employment receiving 65% of your base pay for short term disability and 66 2/3% of your gross monthly earnings for long term disability.  The Carle Foundation pays for 100% of Short Term and Long Term Disability premiums.

Holiday

Carle observes New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Eligible employees receive holiday benefits immediately upon hire.

Other Time Off

Other Time Off benefits include:

Retirement

We all know how important it is to save for retirement, so all employees can take advantage of several options:

Pension Plan

Carle contributes an amount equal to 5% of employee’s annual earnings to a pension account after eligibility requirements are met.   Employees are 100% vested immediately upon entering the plan and design and manage their plan by choosing investment accounts that complement their investment strategy.

403(b)

Upon employment, all employees are eligible for a pre-tax payroll deduction to save money for their retirement through a voluntary 403(b) account. Employees can choose investment accounts that complement their investment strategy.  Employees who are eligible for the pension plan and contribute at least 2% - can be 1 or 2% - to their voluntary 403(b) account will receive up to an additional 2% match from Carle into their 403(b) account (eligibility rules apply).

Flexible Spending

You also have the opportunity to enroll in a flexible spending account that allows you to pay for medical and/or day care expenses before taxes.  Debit card and Direct Deposit reimbursements are available for your convenience.

  • Health Care Spending Account – Allows you to set aside up to $4000 to cover out-of-pocket medical expenses for you and your eligible dependents.
  • Dependent Care Spending Account – Allows you to set aside up to $5000 to cover day care expenses for eligible dependents.

Domestic Partner Benefit

In recognition of a more diverse workplace and to provide an overall benefit package that is competitive and valuable to our employees, The Carle Foundation is proud to offer domestic partner benefits as part of our employee-centered benefit plans.

Prepaid Tuition Assistance

Prepaid tuition assistance is a very valuable benefit to our employees. Employees receive prepaid assistance for tuition and fees (except health insurance and books) for work related classes (eligibility rules apply).  Employees can receive up to $8000, dependent on employment status and educational program.

Employee Incentive Programs

The Employee Incentive Compensation Plan provides “bonus” monetary rewards beyond regular compensation to all eligible employees who help The Carle Foundation achieve specific goals during the fiscal year.

Adoption Assistance

Carle provides eligible employees with adoption assistance to assist and support The Carle Foundation employees and their families with the expenses incurred in the adoption of children.  Dependent on employment status, eligible Carle Foundation employees can receive $2,500 or $5,000 in adoption assistance per year.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Carle offers an Employee Assistance Program for short-term confidential counseling services to all employees and their household members at no cost.  EAP counselors can help with Relationship Conflicts, Emotional Stress, Alcohol and Substance Abuse, Workplace Problems, Financial Issues and more.

The Caring Place Day Care

The Caring Place is a child day care center close to the main Carle campus.  The Caring Place accepts children from 6 weeks to 12 years of age.  Parents may observe children during the day through the use of web cams.  Carle Foundation employees are eligible to receive discounted child care services.
