New Employee Orientation

Orientation plays an important role in ensuring that you get the information you need to succeed in your new position. We are committed to providing you with a thorough orientation that will help in your long-term success and career development at Carle.  New Employee Orientation consists of two days of classes.

 

The Forum at Carle

The Forum at Carle

Day 1

Day 1 is located in The Carle Foundation Forum – Pollard Auditorium from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Parking is available at the Champaign County Fairgrounds.  You will have approximately a one hour lunch break.  Lunch is not provided, but the cafeteria, coffee shop and restaurants are within walking distance. Please wear business casual attire (no shorts or jeans).  For your comfort, we suggest you bring a sweater or light jacket.  View/download a map the location of the Forum at Carle and the fairgrounds parking lot.

 

Day 1 consists of:

  • Executive welcome (learn more about Carle)
  • Services and Programs
  • Security/Confidentiality
  • Carle Basics
  • Healthcare 101
  • Timekeeping
  • Benefits
  • General Safety

Day 2

Day 2 begins in The Carle Foundation Forum – Pollard Auditorium at 8 a.m. and transitions to Conference Room West concluding at 4 p.m. Again, parking is available at the Champaign County Fairgrounds.  You will have approximately a one hour lunch break.  Lunch is not provided, but the cafeteria, coffee shop and restaurants are within walking distance. Please wear business casual attire (no shorts or jeans).  For your comfort, we suggest you bring a sweater or light jacket.

Day 2 consists of:

Enjoy first working day in your department or the next phase of your clinical orientation.

Within your first days of employment you will:

  • Complete second TB screening (this will be scheduled by Occupational Medicine at the time of your first appointment).
  • If eligible, complete benefit enrollment forms. Health, dental, life, vision, and flex spending benefits begin the first day of the pay period following your first 30 days of employment.  All enrollment forms must be received by HR within 31 days of your first date of employment; otherwise, enrollment is not guaranteed.
  • Access Lawson Employee Self Service on the Cweb.

First pay period at Carle:

  • Receive first Carle Foundation pay check (review it for accuracy). Pay checks can be viewed using Lawson Employee Self Service.

Within 30-60 days of employment:

  • If elected, health, dental, life, vision, and flex spending benefits begin the first day of the pay period following your first 30 days of employment (as described above).
  • Within your first 2 months of employment you will receive your first of three New Employee Surveys.

First 3 months of employment at Carle:

  • At approximately 3 months of employment, you will receive your introductory period evaluation.

Completion of 3 months of employment at Carle

  • If eligible, paid leave becomes available (accrued balance appears on paycheck stub and in Lawson Employee Self Service).

Completion of 6 months of employment at Carle:

  • At approximately 6 months of employment you will receive your second New Employee Survey.
  • If eligible, severe illness, short term and long term disability become available.
  • Tuition assistance available if in an eligible employment status.

First year at Carle:

  • At approximately one year of employment, you will receive your third New Employee Survey.
  • Receive annual performance and competency evaluation.
  • Receive congratulatory postcard recognizing your one year of service with Carle. Bring the postcard to Human Resources to receive a gift of appreciation.
