Robotic Surgery
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a condition that may require surgery, you owe it to yourself to learn about all of your medical options, including the most effective, least invasive surgical treatments available.

The da Vinci® Surgical System provides surgeons with an alternative to both traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy, putting a surgeon’s hands at the controls of a state-of-the-art robotic platform. The da Vinci System enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with unmatched precision.

How does robotic surgery work?
The da Vinci System is powered by robotic technology that allows the surgeon’s hand movements to utilize tiny instruments inside the patient’s body through a few small incisions. One of the instruments is a laparoscope – a thin tube with a tiny camera and light at the end. The camera sends images to a video monitor in the operating room to guide doctors during surgery. The surgeon is 100 percent in control of the da Vinci System at all times.

Benefits of robotic surgery
Patients who undergo robotic surgery may experience the following benefits compared to patients undergoing traditional open surgeries:

  • Significantly less pain
  • Less blood loss
  • Fewer complications
  • Binocular vision with depth perception
  • Less scarring
  • A shorter hospital stay
  • A faster return to normal daily activities
