Neurotology

Carle is the area's only hospital with a fellowship trained neurologist specializing in treating neurological conditions of the ear, balance system, temporal bone, skull base and related structures of the head and neck.

Common conditions evaluated and treated by a neurotologist include:

Ear/hearing disorders
Progressive hearing loss, sudden hearing loss, tinnitus and tumors of the ear canal or middle ear
Balance disorders
Positional vertigo, Meniere's disease, migraine associated with dizziness, and other causes of imbalance or dizziness
Facial Nerve Disorders
Facial nerve paralysis, Bell's palsy or Ramsay-Hunt syndrome
Skull base tumors
All tumors affecting the ear, temporal bone or posterior fossa
