Philanthropy gives hope to patients and helps take health care in our community to a whole new level.

Telehealth is the use of technology to provide healthcare from a distance. At Carle, through the use of a camera, patients who are located in another community can be connected with our Champaign-Urbana providers for routine office visits and appointments.

Our providers can perform many of the same assessments they would in-person, including listening to the heartbeat and lungs, and examining the eyes, ears, nose and throat – all through the use of telemedicine medical devices.

In 1994, Carle Foundation Hospital was among the first healthcare organizations in the country to pioneer telehealth services. At that time, Carle had a single service line with a partner facility to provide specialty care to patients at one of its regional hospitals remotely. Since then, Carle has managed to sustain and grow its telemedicine practice for more than two decades to multiple service lines including:

  • Sleep Medicine
  • Pediatric Behavioral Health
  • Oncology
  • Endocrinology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Pediatric Surgery
  • Cardiology
  • Infectious Disease
  • Neonatology
  • Nephrology
  • Urology
  • Diabetic Eye Screenings

These telemedicine services are extended to several hospitals and healthcare clinics within our region. Click to view our service area map.
