Methodist College is pleased to announce Kayla Banks, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, as its Chancellor, effective April 15, 2024. Dr. Banks has been serving as the Interim Chancellor since Aug. 2023, and during that time has demonstrated exemplary leadership and commitment to supporting Methodist College toward a bright vision for the future. Having served in a variety of leadership roles since joining the Carle Health system in 2010, Dr. Banks believes strongly in the impact the College is making throughout the region and has worked tirelessly to support its students, faculty and staff.
“Serving as Interim Chancellor has been such an honor and I am humbled to be selected to continue the great work we have done in recent months to chart a path forward into a bright future for Methodist College,” Dr. Banks said. “I am so fortunate to work with an incredibly talented and dedicated group of faculty, staff and leadership to lend my experience and skills to further our mission in educating future healthcare professionals.”
For more than 100 years, Methodist College has provided a unique learning environment that gives future healthcare administrators, social workers, medical assistants and nurses the tools needed to take on the health challenges of tomorrow. With the appointment of Dr. Banks, the College is well positioned to carry that legacy forward and improve the experience of faculty and students as we support the next generation of healthcare workers.
Dr. Banks is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Nursing and earned her Masters and Doctorate degrees from the University of Illinois-Chicago College of Nursing. She has served as the Vice President of Medical Education at Carle Health, during which time she also was the founding Executive Director of the Carle Illinois College of Medicine. She also taught as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Illinois-Chicago, the Carle Illinois College of Medicine, and at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Dr. Banks also brings executive leadership experience in healthcare operations, having served as Vice President of Women’s and Children’s Services and Diagnostic Services at Carle Foundation Hospital. She began her career as an Intensive Care Nurse before eventually moving into quality improvement, research, teaching and leadership roles.
